If big swords aren't your thing, here's an even better option - the Soul Saber. You can get it as a reward for one of Randolph's missions, "A Cursed Legend". You can find Randolph in the marketplace in Lestallum.
The Cursed Legend quest involves killing a beast named Phalaris. This is a level 85 enemy, so prepare for a devastating fight. Greatswords and fire spells are very effective against him.

This is a very rare item that can only be obtained by killing the cactus that spawns northwest of the hammer head in the morning. Once you fetch Cid the Cactuar Needle, you'll be rewarded with an even better automatic crossbow that's not only powerful, but also gives you a huge bonus to damage resistance.

The standard version of the Gravity Well is located in the Aracheola Stronghold hangar offices. You can take it to Cid at the Hammerhead Garage and he can upgrade it to a Better Gravity Well.
All you need to do is find the hydraulic cylinder and it will appear in the indicated location north of Fort Vaullerey (see video below). The Better Gravity Well is a great weapon if you want to improve your magical skills.
